There's Ads on My Website Now

I’ve said before that I wanted to eventually make money off this website. First of all, websites aren’t free. Second of all, turning my hobby into my job sounds like the best deal ever. This puts me a step closer to that goal.

My first thought was to reach out to Google AdSense. I’ve sent my website for a review and I got a message that I got rejected for “sexual content”, which I didn’t understand. Yeah, I’ve made adult jokes before, but I never actually showed anything sexual. I deleted some old comments and changed some old descriptions (sorry about the non-troll comments). I got rejected for the same reason. I tried a few more times, but it still didn’t let me. Is it because of that one time I called Google Adsense stingy?

I didn’t have much luck with other sites, either. Some had a really high visit count requirement and some rejected my website too. I couldn’t even sign up into one. Didn’t even give me a reason why. Has the free market failed me?

After days of searching, I finally found ylliX. No trouble with signing up, no need for a website review, I just got a piece of code that I had to insert into my site. Yeah, the ads stick out a bit, but there’s only two, they’re not too big and they don’t obstruct anything. I don’t think they’re gonna bother anyone.

I’m gonna be cautiously optimistic. There’s still a chance that something will go wrong and that I’ll have to keep searching for the right advertising site. I’ve still made it further with ylliX than with other websites. It’s enough of an achievement for me.
