Nomen Est Omen

It’s been a while since I talked about the game I’m working on. I’m happy to say that “Punch Code” is almost done. The main game, at least. I don’t know if I’ll add a side mode or something like that. I recently finished the boss fight and I’m currently working on the ending, which will include the list of enemies. A lot of games do that. Here are names of the enemies in the demo:

Floorian and Whirly’s names are obvious; the former cleans the floor and the latter’s propellers whirl. Double fault is a tennis term and frogbit is an aquatic plant. I’m surprised I haven’t seen any robotic frogs with that name. And if you’re wondering, I darkened the background so I could see the white letters. I can’t type with a black outline, I have to add it after the fact.

Just to prove that I’ve made more than five levels, here’s a screenshot of level six:

Every five levels, the location will change. Wanda will go from the city streets to the city park. The enemies on the screen are Fly Friers. They shoot lightning bolts in four directions. As you might have guessed, I’ll introduce a new enemy almost every level. Say what you want about the Botface company, but at least they’re not afraid to try new things.

And that’s all I have for today. Now that I’m this late in the game’s development, it’s hard to give updates without late game spoilers. I hope you’re still satisfied with what I’ve shared. If you didn’t know, you can try the demo on itch.io. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to come up with names and quips for almost twenty enemies.
