Now that October has started, I’ve officially lost my status as a student. I want to talk about something great that happened to me, but I need to give you some backstory first.
My college has a variety of courses for students to choose and each one has an unofficial Facebook group. My courses were Linguistics and English Studies, so I joined those two groups. Since the English Studies one allowed it, I posted my comics there. At first, I was getting a lot of likes and comments, but after a year or two, I was only getting one or two likes per comic. I wasn’t happy about it, but I figured, the novelty has just worn off.
At the end of September, I posted the comic you just read with a goodbye message. It was the standard stuff: I have to leave, I had a good time at college, you were a great audience, etc. To my surprise, I got over a hundred likes and several comments wishing me good luck and thanking me for entertaining them. Turns out a lot of people enjoyed my comics, even years after I started posting in that group.
I’m not entirely sure what’s next for me. I still can’t make a living out of this webcomic, so I have to get a standard job. I’m sending my CV to different companies, hoping that one of them will hire me. In these uncertain times, my ex-colleagues gave me a nice confidence boost.
