I'm starting a Patreon account

Since the beginning, I've planned to eventually make money off this website. Partially because websites and domains aren't cheap, partially because making my hobby into my job sounds like the best deal ever. I know some of you might say, „The chances of that coming true are one in a million.“ My response is, „So there is a chance!“

My first idea was to simply put ads on my site. However, Google AdSense is stingy as hell: a thousand people need to look at an ad before you make around one dollar off of it. Judging by Squarespace and Google Analytics, that's not gonna happen anytime soon. At least no one can say I'm only in it for the money. If I was, I wouldn't be trying to become a webcomic artist.

It's about time I get to the point. I've opened a Patreon account (and in the process, I rekindled my hatred of bureaucracy). For one dollar a month, I'll put your name and a message of your choice on my website. I imagine it looking something like this:

On the 25th of each month, I'll open a blog post asking you about next month's message (expect my first post on Patreon in a few days, then). I did put some rules, though. There are certain messages I don't want, so read the rules before accusing me of ripping you off.

Those who give 2 dollars or more get their messages shared on the front page as well. I imagine it looking something like this:

Lastly, if you give 3 dollars or more, you can give me a link to your website or your profile on a website and I'll share it on the front page. The ones with NSFW content will be marked as such. You know the drill at this point:

I hope I explained everything correctly. Yeah, I'm not gonna strike it rich (or even moderate) immediately, but I gotta start somewhere. Later today, I’ll provide a permanent link to my Patreon account. Also, none of this is set in stone. I might add more benefits in the future, so stay tuned. Starting a webcomic was already a crazy idea, so let's keep going!
