Comment Highlights 8

Well, now that I moved fanart to Sundays, these are gonna be a little more common. Sorry, I don’t have infinite ideas for Wednesdays. Let’s get it started with the comments I found interesting.

Once Again, No Dumb Questions

I got this questions a few times during my QnAs and it was never one of the first ten or first twenty, so I never answered it. Admittedly, it’s not the easiest topic to talk about, but since so many of you are curious, my answer is: kind of. Obviously, I don’t want to promote racism, but I also don’t want to walk on eggshells. Minorities are not made of glass and they shouldn’t be treated as such. Be kind, but don’t be condescending.

And yeah, some of my recurring characters have stereotypical traits, but as long as those traits aren’t their entire personality, I think I’m in the clear. People in real life don’t defy every single stereotype, so why should we expect the same from fictional characters?

Comic 173: Our Little Hate Nest

I drew a comic where a character keeps a wasp nest in their home. One of the comments asked:

Bees aren’t as annoying. At least they give us honey… which gave me nausea a few times because I ate too much of it. I guess bees caused me more pain, all things considered.

Comic 174: Two People Enter, Sanity Leaves

Working an unrealistic amount of jobs is nothing new for cartoon characters. Heck, I grew up reading Donald Duck comics. Perhaps they even influenced mine.

Comic 177: Human Rainbow: the Sequel

Remember when "superstraight” was a thing? I still don’t know what to make of it. I didn’t think it was inherently offensive (not being attracted to someone is not the same as discriminating against them), but I didn’t think it was necessary either. It sounds more like a preference than a sexuality.

Everyone forgot about it in a week, so I guess the internet agrees with me. And just to be clear, nobody’s entitled to physical attraction, but everybody is entitled to basic human respect. Unless they do something to lose it, of course.

Fanart: Free to Quote Me On Anything

You’d be surprised with how many people fake it. I’m not, but you probably would be.

And I’ve done five comments as usual. I hope this list wasn’t too preachy. In my defense, the internet makes preaching really easy.
